OUR HISTORY

Journey Community Church is a 200+ year old community that is beginning an exciting new chapter of our story.  Our journey began when a Methodist circuit riding preacher gathered a community of brave pioneers to begin a new church community in Pleasant Valley.   That small group, which eventually became Plain City United Methodist Church, has been sharing the grace and love of Jesus Christ with the greater Plain City area since 1815.  In 2003, the congregation took a bold step to purchase 19 acres of land on Plain City-Lafayette Road and God began to give a fresh vision for a flourishing church reaching more people with the good news of Jesus.  In November of 2017, we took another bold step of faith by selling our 113 year old facility on North Chillicothe St. and began a season of mobile ministry gathering at the Jonathan Alder Junior High School.  This was also a time of clarifying our mission, vision and values, which led to changing the name of our community.  On March 1. 2018, we began ministry under our new name Journey Community Church, while still maintaining our connection as a United Methodist congregation.  As we begin ministry in our new facility in the summer of 2018, it will be the fifth facility that has served as a launching pad for ministry.  We know who we are.  We know what God has called us to do.  We are excited about the journey ahead!
